St. Louis Senior Photography FAQs
-
I'm interested, how does the whole process flow?
We created a document that outlines all of the steps from start to finish. It's called Senior Picture Flow. We also have many of the steps outlined in the FAQ's below too.

How do I reserve a portrait session with you?
Please call our studio any time at 314-256-9369 or send us an email with your contact information so we can call you.

How much does a senior portrait session cost?
Our high school senior photo session prices vary but all are priced very reasonably. We don't think you should have to take out a loan to get some high quality, modern looking senior photos.
Do you charge tax?
We do not charge sales tax on our packages because you are purchasing a service, which is tax free. The package price you see is the final package price. However, any a la carte items will be charged sales tax, since they are products.
How much do the actual photos cost?
We actually roll the price of the session and the cost of the photos into one convenient package for you. We also have an "A la Carte" section. Check out our Senior Portrait Pricing for Details.
How much do you charge for a sitting fee?
No charge. We think a sitting fee is a sneaky way to get a few more dollars from you, so we don't do it. The price you see listed on our Senior Photo Pricing Page is the final cost with no hidden fees. Pretty straight forward right?
When do I pay for the senior portrait session?
We ask that you pay half up front to reserve the session date and the other half when you order your prints.
What types of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, check or money order.
How long does the average senior portrait session last?
The length of the session depends on the package you select. Typically from 1 to 4 hours. Don't worry though, if we're in the middle of a shoot and the time has expired we won't stop right there. Our goal is to get good photos so if that means staying a few extra minutes then no problem.
What should I wear for the session?
Wear clothes that define your style right now. Our only suggestions are that you stay away from overly busy patterns and that you are confortable with whatever you are wearing.
Where do you shoot the session?
In short, almost any place you'd like! If you need help deciding we can make a few recommendations. We'll talk with you to come up with a good game-plan. After all the photo session is about you and your needs. Once we find out what you're aiming for (or what your taste is) we can agree on a place. We'd prefer not to be cooped up in a studio and arm you with the same old standard studio props. There are so many photography studios that have that style covered. We like the natural, modern, fresh feel and you can usually get that outdoors somewhere.

If we shoot my senior pictures in the park, where do I change?
Most parks have a restroom for you to change outfits.
Will you travel outside of St. Louis?
Sure! Just let us know and we'll work out some sort of deal. (i.e. - gas mileage, etc.)
What happens if the weather is bad?
Great question! We can either reschedule or shoot indoors. It'd probably be best to reschedule but if you're in a pinch and need your photos we will be spontaneous and shoot somewhere indoors. We're pretty flexible though, and sometimes the best photos come from a "plan b".

What if I need to cancel my session?
Frankly we're a little hurt that you would ask such a thing. But seriously, you may be put in a position where you need to cancel and that's perfectly okay. It's no problem to reschedule for another date but would ask that you let us know at least one week in advance. Please keep in mind if you decide not to reschedule the fee to reserve the date cannot be refunded.

What if I don't like my portraits?
If you're not satisfied with the portraits then we're not satisfied. We'll gladly meet with you and reshoot the session again at no charge. Please let us know you're not satisfied after viewing the proofs and before we print them. This way we'll be able to reshoot your session right away to stay on track.
What happens after the photo session?
We take the photos back to our studio and work on your online proof gallery. We then upload the proofs and let you view them online. You can then select which poses from the photo shoot you would like to have printed.
What happens after we pick the proofs we want printed?
Once you have picked the proofs that you would like printed we'll spend a little more time with color correction, airbrushing, etc to make sure the photo is perfect. (see our senior portrait retouching page) Then we'll send them to print which typically takes another week depending on the time of year.

Will you retouch my senior portraits in Photoshop? If so, what's the cost?
Yes we will retouch the portraits before they are sent to print. There is no cost for this. We have a special page dedicated to senior portrait retouching. Check out a few of our senior portrait before and after shots here.

Is there a charge for converting a senior portrait to black and white?
Absolutely not! We would feel really bad for charging extra money for clicking one extra button in Photoshop. We want you to have senior portraits you're happy with so if that means converting a few to black and white, it's all our pleasure.
