St. Louis Baby and Maternity Photography Answers
We created a document that outlines all of the steps from start to finish. It’s called Baby and Maternity Photography Flow. We also have many of the steps outlined in the FAQ’s below too.
Please call our studio any time at 314-256-9369 or send us an email with your contact information so we can contact you.
Our focus for baby sessions is on the baby and for maternity sessions is on the pregnant mother. You can see in our baby and maternity gallery that we do include family members in some images, but the focus is the baby or pregnant mom.
Our baby and maternity photo session prices vary but all are priced very reasonably. We don’t think you should have to take out a loan to get some high quality, memorable portraits of your child, or of yourself pregnant.
We do not charge sales tax on our packages because you are purchasing a service, which is tax free. The package price you see is the final package price. However, any a la carte items will be charged sales tax, since they are products.
We actually roll the price of the session and the cost of the photos into one convenient package for you. We also have an “A la Carte” section. Check out our Baby and Maternity Portrait Pricing for Details.
No charge. We think a sitting fee is a sneaky way to get a few more dollars from you, so we don’t do it. The price you see listed on our Baby and Maternity Photo Pricing Page is the final cost with no hidden fees. Pretty straight forward right?/p>

We ask that you pay half up front to reserve the session date and the other half when you order your prints.
We accept cash, check or money order.
The length of the session depends on the package you select. Typically from 1 to 2 hours. Don’t worry though, if we’re in the middle of a shoot and the time has expired we won’t stop right there. Our goal is to get good photos so if that means staying a few extra minutes then no problem.
We actually prefer to shoot the baby session in your own home. This proves especially helpful when little ones become fussy or need a quick bite to eat. We prefer not to rush you, and we understand that kids will be kids. Shooting the session in your home tends to make children most comfortable and relaxed.
We also prefer to shoot maternity sessions in your home. Because maternity sessions are such family oriented portraits, we feel that your home makes the best and most comfortable place for the maternity session.
Sure! Just let us know and we’ll work out some sort of deal. (i.e. – gas mileage, etc.)
Frankly we’re a little hurt that you would ask such a thing. But seriously, you may be put in a position where you need to cancel and that’s perfectly okay. It’s no problem to reschedule for another date but would ask that you let us know at least one week in advance. Please keep in mind if you decide not to reschedule the fee to reserve the date cannot be refunded.
If you’re not satisfied with the portraits then we’re not satisfied. We’ll gladly meet with you and reshoot the session again at no charge. Please let us know you’re not satisfied after viewing the proofs and before we print them. This way we’ll be able to reshoot your session right away to stay on track.
We take the photos back to our studio and work on your online proof gallery. We then upload the proofs and let you view them online. You can then select which poses from the photo shoot you would like to have printed.
Once you have picked the proofs that you would like printed we’ll spend a little more time with color correction, airbrushing, etc to make sure the photo is perfect. Then we’ll send them to print which typically takes another week depending on the time of year.
Yes we will retouch the portraits before they are sent to print. There is no cost for this.
Absolutely not! We would feel really bad for charging extra money for clicking one extra button in Photoshop. We want you to have baby and maternity portraits you’re happy with so if that means converting a few to black and white, it’s all our pleasure.
A unit is generally a sheet of 8 x 10 paper, unless the print size is larger. We have an example of units on our baby and maternity pricing page.
